Bills of Sale for slave, Bate
October 28, 1769 -- Sale by Isaac Marselis, Merchant, of Schenectady to Charles Toal, Yeoman, of Schenectady, for the sum of seventy pounds, "a Negro wench named Bate lately the Property of Jacob Rampson of the City of New York..." On the reverse side, a second Bill of Sale is executed:
January 22nd, 1779- Sale by Carel H. Toll, Jr. to Cornelius Maybe, for the sum of eighty five pounds New York currency, "In full for the within named Negro wench and a Child with her of about a year & a Month old..."
